What does Lamentations 3:25 mean?
John Gill · Exposition of the Entire Bible, on Lamentations 3:25
The Lord is good to them that wait for him,.... For the enjoyment of him as their portion in this world, and in that to come; for his presence here and hereafter; which they are sometimes now deprived of, but should wait patiently for it; since he has his set time to arise and favour them with it; to such is he "good" communicatively, and in a special way and manner. They that wait for him shall not be ashamed, or disappointed of what they expect; they shall renew their spiritual strength, and grow stronger and stronger; they shall inherit the earth, the new heavens and the new earth; enjoy many blessings now, and have good things laid up for them hereafter, eye has not seen, nor ear heard…

John Calvin · Commentaries, on Lamentations 3:25
25. The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. 25. Bonus Jehova expectanti ipsum, (vel, speranti in eum,) animae quaerenti ipsum. He continues the same subject: he however adds now something to it, even that God always deals mercifully with his servants, who recumb on him, mid who seek him.

Context: Lamentations 3:22–28 (WEB)
22It is because of the LORD’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his mercies don’t fail. 23They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness. 24“The LORD is my portion,” says my soul. “Therefore I will hope in him.” 25The LORD is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him. 26It is good that a man should hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD. 27It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth. 28Let him sit alone and keep silence, because he has laid it on him.
