How Ask AI Works
Ask AI helps you explore the Bible by answering questions in plain language. Here is where its answers come from, what it cannot do, and what happens to what you type.
Sources and grounding
The Bible is the source. The AI’s explanation is interpretation. Ask AI works from Scripture and quotes it, but any summary, application or explanation it gives is a reading of the text, not the text itself.
- When your question names or points to a passage, LogosAI looks that passage up in its own Bible database and gives the actual verse text to the AI to work from.
- Every verse quoted in an answer is checked against our Bible database. When it matches a real reference, the AI’s wording is replaced with the actual text and marked with a small ✓ from ESV (or whichever version it came from). A verse we cannot find is marked unverified quote.
- Verses shown with an answer link to the passage in the LogosAI reader, so you can read them in context.
- Checking the words is not the same as checking the meaning: the AI can still apply a verse out of context. Open the passage and read it around the quote.
How an answer is prepared
Every answer goes through the same steps:
- Understand the question. We work out what you are asking, which language you want the answer in, and whether it is about a particular passage, a topic or something personal.
- Gather the sources. We look up the relevant passages in our own Bible database and, where it helps, notes from classic public-domain commentaries such as John Gill, Matthew Henry and John Calvin.
- Draft the answer. A large language model, run by a trusted AI service provider, writes the answer from those sources, following our statement of faith and our guidelines for tone, clarity and pastoral care.
- Check it. Every quoted verse is compared with our Bible database and replaced with the real text; answers are checked to stay on your question; and signs that someone may be in crisis bring up the help lines below.
- Suggest next steps. You get the verses to read in context and a few follow-up questions to keep studying.
To draft answers, your question and the context needed to answer it well are sent to our AI service providers: recent messages in the same conversation, the Bible passages we looked up, your preferred language, and (if you are signed in and have not reset it) a short summary of your study preferences from Ask AI Memory. Voice questions are turned into text the same way. We never send your password or payment details, and we only use providers that process this data under their own privacy terms.
Limits
- AI can make mistakes. It can sound confident and still be wrong. Check the verses yourself.
- It is not your pastor. Ask AI can help you study, but it cannot know you, pray with you or care for you the way a local church can. Bring the big questions to your pastor and church family.
- It is not professional advice. Nothing in an answer is medical, legal, financial or mental-health advice. Please see a qualified professional for those needs.

How to report a bad answer
If an answer is wrong, unhelpful or harmful, please tell us:
- Use the thumbs-down (Not helpful) button under the answer. Your rating is saved together with the question and answer so we can review it and improve future answers.
- For anything more serious, or if you want a reply, open a support request on the Help & Support page.
- Or email us at info@jabin.org. Include the question you asked and what went wrong.
What happens to your questions
- If you are signed in, your questions and answers are saved to your My Study → Chats so you can come back to them.
- You can delete a single conversation or clear all of it in My Study → Chats. You can reset what Ask AI has learned about your study preferences in Settings → AI Memory, and export or delete all your data in Settings → Data.
- We do not sell your questions, and we do not use them for advertising.
- A small number of LogosAI staff may review questions and answers, only to keep the service safe and to improve answer quality.

Doctrinal stance
LogosAI is built from a Reformed Baptist conviction, in the line of the 1689 London Baptist Confession. Ask AI explains the Bible from that perspective, and on questions where faithful Christians differ it aims to present the main views fairly and to name them honestly. You can read our full statement of faith on What We Believe.
