What the Bible says

What does the Bible say about faith?

Faith is “the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1). Saving faith in Jesus Christ is a gift of God, “whereby we receive and rest upon Him alone for salvation” (Ephesians 2:8; Baptist Catechism Q93); it comes by hearing the word of Christ (Romans 10:17) and shows itself in good works, for faith without works is dead (James 2:17).
